Hover over the thumbnails to see more featured art from our recent member submissions. New CSS! You have probably noticed that we're sporting some spanking new CSS on our journal and a shiny new icon to match. The fractal tree image was made with a formula from one of our members, = misterxz. He has some very unique fractal art in his gallery that's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for inspiration. Any thoughts or comments you have about the CSS or icon are welcome and appreciated. Club News We're going to start a new regular journal feature that will give all of you the chance to have your art posted in the journal for constructive suggestions, help and feedback from fellow members. It could be either a finished piece that's posted in your gallery, or a nearly-finished work in progress posted in your scraps. Either way, we all get stuck sometimes and I think this could be a great way to help each other out. Giving help and constructive suggestions is a great way to get yourself thinking about ways to improve your own art too. Even if you don't feel comfortable participating, I think we can all learn from comments and suggestions from other members. If you have a fractal that you would like some help with or want to offer up for constructive suggestions, please send a note with a thumbnail of the piece and a short description of what you would like help with. It could be a specific problem area or maybe you're just looking for some different perspectives. If you like, you can also provide parameters. This could be especially useful if you want help with something specific or technical, but is of course optional. Coming Soon I have an interesting idea for our first big contest and would be eternally grateful to anyone who is able to donate any kind of prize for our winners. I will be personally donating at least one subscription to the first place winner for our first contest to get the club rolling. Please note me if you would like to help out. Thanks so much to anyone who even considers this. We also have some chat events coming up in the very near future. Keep an eye out for those, and more contest details to come. To Submit Your Art To the Club Collection: - If you have Ultra Fractal art that you would like to add to our club collection, please send us a note.
- To make our job easier, please include a thumbnail of the deviation you would like to submit.
To add a thumbnail to your note: Open the deviation from your gallery. On the right hand side under the deviation, you will notice a box with 'Thumb' above it. Copy the code which is in the box and paste that into your note. Another way to include the thumbnail in your note is to click on the "Share This/Blog It" button found on the left of the deviation, then select the "Send it in a Note" option. Choose =Ultra-Fractal from your list of Friends, add any text you want and send.
Submission Guidelines - All work should be created in Ultra Fractal. We have changed our submission rules to allow Mixed Media Ultra Fractal artwork. New features in UF 5 have made it possible to incorporate non-fractal elements in UF work, and the club rules are evolving with the capabilities of the program. Artwork submitted to the club should have dominant or obvious Ultra Fractal elements and will be accepted in club submissions at the discretion of staff. Please don't hesitate to send us a note with any UF mixed media pieces you would like us to see.
- You may submit work for the club collection as often as you like. However, we suggest that you should only submit pieces you take some pride in, as our collection is meant to be a showcase of the best efforts of all of our members. We won't pass any judgment on work that is added to the general collection, but will select exceptional work for features in club updates and news articles.
- We are now only submitting helpful Ultra Fractal Resources and Tutorials as deviations to the club gallery. If you have a great resource or tutorial that you would like to have submitted as a deviation on the club account, please send us a note.

A few guidelines for #UltraFractal. The chat atmosphere is meant to be very laid back and casual, but a few guidelines are necessary to make sure everyone has a good experience. If you come into chat and nobody is speaking at the moment, feel free to tab one of us to get our attention. If you're using Windows and type the first few letters of someone's username followed by the TAB key, their username will be completed in the text input of the chat. If you send them a message, dAmn will notify them. If they have set an away message, dAmn will automatically display it in response to your message. Sometimes people idle in chat while they do other things, so don't be alarmed if you come in to a dead room. - No Drama. If you have a personal problem with another member, please keep it out of the room and try to be civil while you're there. Note me, =trystianity privately if things get really out of hand, but for the most part we expect club members to have the maturity to sort their own problems out on their own time and in their own space, and don't want to get involved in your issues. Chat mods will step in and take action if members are using the club chat to fight, insult or argue.
- Everyone is welcome. We have members of all skill levels. We all started somewhere, and in general are all trying to improve our art in some way.
- Follow dAmn rules outlined in
FAQ #287: What rules apply to the Chat Network? Please don't discuss or engage in any illegal activities while in chat. We cannot allow any discussion about cracks, wares, or serials for any program. Don't come in looking for an illegal copy of Ultra Fractal. There is a fully featured free trial available for download at [link] We will also not tolerate any discussion of self mutilation or suicide, or conversations with explicit sexual themes.
- No Spamming. Unsolicited advertising, repeated posting of thumbs, links to your userpage or your own chat room, group or website is considered spamming and will result in a kick or ban from the chatroom if it continues.
- No Flooding. This can include continuous posting of repetitive copy/pasted text, emoticons, word streeeeeetching, or random large blocks of text. It disrupts the flow of chat and is very rude.
- Please understand that we have a diverse group of all ages and nationalities. Try to keep net, chat or gamespeak to a minimum. Older members especially will have trouble understanding you.
- One function of chat is to provide artistic criticism to members who are trying to improve their artwork. When you post thumbs, please indicate if this kind of feedback is desired. Critique can be extremely valuable to find out where you need to improve and what you're already doing that is effective, but criticism can be blunt. Make sure you're prepared to deal with that before you request that kind of help from our members.
- If you have a complaint or want to report something that's happened in chat, please contact me, =trystianity in private by note. Do not start fights in chat or bring drama into other rooms. In general if you wish to discuss any aspect of administration of the group chat, including requests to join the mod team, please contact me in private, as I like to keep this sort of discussion out of the room.
Privilege Classes: Breakdown UFAdmin: These are administrators of the Ultra Fractal Group.
Retired: Former Administrators of the Ultra Fractal group.
UFMods: These are members who have a few privileges and help to keep the chat running smoothly according to these guidelines. They are unable to ban but can kick or temporarily give a TimeOut if necessary.
FractalOverlords: These are deviantArt's official Fractal Art Gallery Moderators
Robot: ~Mandelbot is the #UltraFractal chat bot. He is a program that keeps a log of chat just in case it's needed, and can perform a few other functions.
Members: These are Ultra-Fractal Group Members
UltraFriends: People who either don't use UF or haven't joined the club, but join us in chat as friends.
Guests: New visitors to #UltraFractal
TimeOut: Temporary Time Out. Cannot post messages in chat.
UltraFiends: Banned. Cannot join chat.
You may also see a few other custom privilege classes in chat, these are honorary or temporary titles used in certain circumstances. Please don't ask me for a custom privclass. Parameter Sharing You are welcome to share parameters in chat, whether you are looking for help with your work, giving other members help, collaborating or just want to show off something cool. Please warn us before you post your parameters, as they create a large disruptive wall of text. A simple IWOT is fine. If you don't want other members using your parameters as direct tweaks in their own artwork, please say so before you post them. You will have to make sure you select multiline input in chat (above the text box) berore you paste them. It's also nice to use < sub > tags before your parameters to reduce their size. If you use someone else's parameters in your own artwork, it is courteous to credit them in your artist comments when you post your work on dA. To copy parameters from Ultra Fractal, right click on the Fractal window and select Copy, or make sure you have the Fractal Window selected and press Ctrl-C. To paste parameters into Ultra Fractal, right click the Fractal Window and select Paste, or make sure you have the Fractal Window selected and hit Ctrl-V.
